Pure Matters Recognizes Irritable Bowel Syndrome Awareness Month in April

Pure Matters Launches Complete Biotic for Gastrointestinal Health

Herndon, VA (PRWEB) April 02, 2012

Pure Matters, a retailer of premium health and wellness products, is joining with physicians, health care providers and patients who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in recognizing April as Irritable Bowel Syndrome Awareness Month. The company is also launching Complete Biotic, a new product with a proprietary formula consisting of probiotics combined with a prebiotic compound to promote gastrointestinal health and regularity as well as immune system health and overall wellness. In response to consumer demand, the product will be made available nationwide beginning today.

As many as 20 percent of the adult population, or one in five Americans, have IBS symptoms according to the National Institute of Health (NIH). Although IBS is prevalent, many people are unaware that the symptoms they are struggling to live with actually indicate a medically recognized disorder. IBS affects men, women, young and old with symptoms that range from pain and discomfort in the abdomen to bloating, constipation and/or diarrhea. Some common IBS treatments include: changes in eating, diet and nutrition, medicine, psychological counseling and probiotics.

“With April being IBS Awareness Month, we thought it was a great time to make our Complete Biotic product available and to also begin talking to our customers about the incredible importance of a healthy digestive tract,” notes Steven Rindner, CEO of Pure Matters. “Complete Biotic combines both probiotics and prebiotics to create a comprehensive supplement that promotes gastrointestinal health, the immune system, overall wellness and regularity. And that’s important whether you suffer from IBS or if you just want to make sure you are taking care of the engine for your body – your digestive tract.”

Pure Matters Complete Biotic — How & Why It Works:

This supplement contains clinically researched ingredients, as well as soluble fiber, and allows healthy bacterial strains to flourish in the intestinal tract while limiting the growth of bacteria that can be harmful to human health. Complete Biotic features a formula called Lactowise®, with a prebiotic and probiotic mixture that has been clinically proven to improve digestive health and immunity. This combination, called synbiotics, supports the healthy bacteria in the intestinal tract that not only aid in digestion, but also keep the growth of harmful bacteria in check.

These good bacteria, called probiotics, are microorganisms that can fight off infections as well; they make up about 80% of the immune system in humans. The healthy bacteria supported by Complete Biotic play a role in digestion, vitamin B production, and in making minerals and various other nutrients the body needs to stay healthy. Physical parts of the bacteria, like the cell wall, also help support the immune system and suppress inflammation.

Intended to be a supplement, Pure Matters® Complete Biotic remains fresh at room temperature with no need for refrigeration and can be easily stored for long periods of time. Complete Biotic, and other products like it, support gastrointestinal, immune, skin, liver, and dental health.

Pure Matters Advisory Board member Shyam Parikh, a licensed pharmacist who has spent over a decade recommending pharmaceutical and nutritional-based treatments to patients, says, “The benefits of healthy bacteria in the intestines have long been studied, and this new product is ideal for maintaining good health and providing relief from a variety of ailments. Almost anyone can benefit from the probiotic properties of this proprietary formula.”

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NDDIC), studies have found that probiotics, taken in large enough amounts, improve symptoms of IBS. Pure Matters urges IBS sufferers to talk to their heath care providers before using probiotics to treat IBS.

Related Products:

In addition to its probiotics and prebiotics, Pure Matters sells a variety of products that support immune system health, such as Immunity Gold. The company also carries products that promote heart health, normal sleep, and weight loss. Pure Matters has also developed a proprietary beauty compound with collagen and alpha lipoic acid, as well as high performance multi-vitamins and energy boosting supplements – all of which can be purchased through the Pure Matters website.

Where to get it:

Pure Matters® Complete Biotic is now available through the company’s website, where there are also comprehensive resources such as health-related articles and blogs. Diet Doc Weight Loss Announces How to Lose Weight Fast and Safely With New Weight Loss Program Designed to Improve Overall Health

Diet Doc Weight Loss Announces How to Lose Weight Fast and Safely With New Weight Loss Program Designed to Improve Overall Health

DietDoc – HCG Diet Doctors

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 12, 2012

Diet Doc Weight Loss announces a new medical breakthrough in weight loss science helping people lose weight fast.

Obesity studies have shown that being as little as 20 pounds overweight can cause debilitating health conditions, such as a reduction of life span, cardiovascular problems, diabetes 2, high cholesterol and a reduction of energy, mental clarity and sex drive!

According to SOTT.net’s press release by a world-renowned cardiologist who said after 25 years of doing heart surgeries, there is one common denominator, the way people eat (sugar, carbohydrates, etc) is causing people to die prematurely or risk their health.

Dr. Dwight Lundell states “How does eating a simple sweet roll create a cascade of inflammation to make you sick?”

Dr. Lundell says, “imagine spilling syrup on your keyboard and you have a visual of what occurs inside the cell. When we consume simple carbohydrates such as sugar, blood sugar rises rapidly. In response, your pancreas secretes insulin whose primary purpose is to drive sugar into each cell where it is stored for energy. If the cell is full and does not need glucose, it is rejected to avoid extra sugar gumming up the works.”

Diet Doc HCG Diet and Weight Loss is passionate about helping people reduce their weight to avoid certain diseases and health conditions associated with being overweight. How to lose weight fast is not done with one diet program for each person. To lose weight fast takes a personalized approach considering each person’s unique health history, age, gender, genetics and lifestyle. Diet Doc are experts at losing weight fast and can help people who have previously failed on other diets to lose weight fast.

Diet Doc wants to keep their comprehensive, medically, supervised weight loss program affordable to many people, not just a select few. We often hear people comment that our pricing model is half of what other doctors are charging reports Julie Wright, President of Diet Doc HCG Diet & Weight Loss. This is because our mission is to help people lose weight, train them on what specific foods will cause a weight loss reaction in their body. This is how they keep the weight off long term reports Wright. If we can do our best with each person, then we have gained the trust of many. This is how we make up for charging much lower than others states Wright.

Diet Doc provides medically, supervised patient care to people across the USA. Diet Doc provides a collaborative approach to dieting, which is labor intensive, but effective reports Wright. Diet Doc works with weight loss physicians who are passionate about reducing obesity which is often the cause for many diseases and illnesses reports Wright.

###

*These weight reduction treatments include oral hCG or an injection of hCG–a drug, which has not been approved by the food and drug administration as safe and effective in the treatment of obesity or weight control. There is no substantial evidence that hCG increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal” distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restrictive diets. Results may vary and cannot be guaranteed. Medical supervision and compliance with our program is required.

Weight Loss Surgery Diary #27

Sunday, February 5, 2012 Going into the 26th week post-op and this week lost 4.4 pounds! Whee Whee-whee wheeeeee! :-) In January lost 9.9 pounds just shy a few ounces from my goal of 10 pounds — ah well on we go! Total is now 85.7 Kewl! I’ve gone down another size and wearing shirts that are fitted and an outrageous size I never thought I’d be wearing. Covering vitamins — they aren’t the best things but you gotta take them. Running is the key — as hard as I been resisting that’s the thing that melts if off so I will embrace that as best I can.

Q&A: Additional weight loss needed after 10 yr gastric bypass?

Question by LindaLou: Additional weight loss needed after 10 yr gastric bypass?
I had a very successful gastric bypass surgery over 10 years ago. I took off over 130 lbs and have kept it off successfully and easily. However the last year and a half brought tremendous stressors that put on 30 lbs that I now am having great difficulty getting off. ANYone with similiar experience or ideas for people with this ABNORMAL stomach?

Best answer:

Answer by Angie G
When you get the bypass surgery the weight comes off fast and relatively easy. Now that your body has become accustomed to less intake, it will be just as difficult for you to lose the 30 pounds as it would anyone who didn’t have the surgery. It will just take time and a lot of work. If you can try to work out more, since it doesn’t make much sense to eat less. Hope it works.

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

Roper St. Francis Healthcare(RSFH) announced today that the system’s Bariatric and Metabolic Services program has been named an ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® by the American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery(ASMBS). The accreditation is a known quality indicator and serves as the golden seal of approval in healthcare for bariatric medicine.

ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence® accreditation is a way of evaluating quality, patient safety and the actual delivery of patient care in bariatric (surgical weight loss) services.

To earn a COE designation, the RSFH program and C. Houston Weight Loss Surgeons Discuss How to Choose the Right Bariatric Practice

Houston Weight Loss Surgeons Discuss How to Choose the Right Bariatric Practice

How to Choose a Bariatric Surgeon According to Houston Weight Loss Surgeons

Houston, TX (PRWEB) February 08, 2012

According to the latest report from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), of the 15 million Americans who have morbid obesity, only 1% (220,000) of the clinically eligible population underwent bariatric surgery. While the ASMBS study also shows that patients who undergo weight loss surgery may improve life expectancy by 89% when compared to those who do not have surgery, Drs. Sherman Yu and Terry Scarborough of the Texas Laparoscopic Consultants, a Houston bariatric surgery practice, say that choosing the right surgeon is essential for ensuring those results are achieved safely and effectively. Dr. Yu and Dr. Scarborough say patients should make every effort to evaluate a weight loss surgery practice thoroughly based on several important factors before making any decision regarding a LAP-BAND® System surgery or other bariatric procedure.

Dr. Yu says patients need to be sure to consider all of the options surrounding a bariatric surgery practice in order to verify if their weight loss goals can and will be met. Regardless of which procedure patients are considering, he says he always urges patients to seek out a board-certified surgeon to ensure they have the proper experience, training, and credentials. Dr. Yu also recommends patients take the time to consult with their surgeon about the procedure that is best for them, as each patient has individual needs. “I believe choosing a surgical practice with board-certified surgeons that offer the complete spectrum of weight loss procedures is an important aspect to consider when choosing a weight loss surgeon. That way a patient is not pigeon-holed into a single procedure that may not be what they wanted or what’s right for them.”

For all patients considering any weight loss surgery, whether it be gastric bypass or LAP-BAND in Houston, Dr. Scarborough says another important characteristic to look for in a bariatric surgery practice is doctor-patient communication and a surgeon’s dedication to patient satisfaction and comfort. By seeking a practice that is dedicated to weight loss surgery and their patients, he says patients can rest assured that their results will be of the highest quality. Dr. Scarborough adds that through the hands of a qualified and passionate weight loss surgeon, patients will receive the comprehensive care and support they need to make a change in their life for the better.

“A practice that is devoted to weight loss surgery will likely have better outcomes and provide better follow-up and support (such as nutrition, psych, and support groups), which are key aspects to long-term success. There is no single most important factor but a variety of things a patient needs to consider. Being comfortable with the surgeon and the practice is key as well.”

About Sherman C. Yu, MD

Following graduation with High Honors in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Sherman Yu earned his medical degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency and surgical training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, where he served as Chief Resident in Surgery and gained an interest in laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive techniques for obesity treatment. Dr. Yu also completed a year-long fellowship in robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center, after which he was brought on as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. As a recognized Centers of Excellence® Surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation, he was the first surgeon in Houston to perform the single incision laparoscopic (SILS) gastric sleeve procedure as well as the SILS adjustable gastric band procedure. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and several other professional organizations.

About Terry Scarborough, MD

A native of Clovis, New Mexico, Dr. Terry Scarborough graduated with honors from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and received his medical degree, also with honors, from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency and a year-long fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Scarborough has performed over 4,000 laparoscopic procedures, including over 1,000 laparoscopic weight loss procedures. He is a certified proctor for the Ethicon Endosurgery Corporation, teaching surgeons around the country how to perform the REALIZE® gastric banding procedure. Dr. Scarborough is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Southwestern Surgical Society.

Located at 1200 Binz. Suite 950 in Houston, TX, Texas Laparoscopic Consultants can be reached at (713) 493-7700. It can also be contacted online via the website tlcsurgery.com or facebook.com/tlcsurgery.

Dangers of Weight Loss Surgery Abroad – Half Price Lap Band Surgery in Mexico

“The price became attractive,” says Elaine Hampton, a victim of weight loss surgery abroad. “Unfortunately they are not told the real story that the followup is going to be very difficult for them.” says Doctor Nick Nicholson in Plano, Texas. “In general, what people need to realize is that if you go pay cash because your insurance company did not cover weight loss surgery, they not only do not cover the original surgery, they will not cover any of the complications. And that is a terrible problem for the patient when they get back.” Elaine goes on to say that she was “throwing up constantly. I couldn’t hold even water down.” Hours later she was in a Plano hospital having emergency surgery. “You may think you are saving money by going to Mexico, you may have saved five or six thousand dollars, unfortunately that is about one trip to the emergency room,” says Dr. Nick.
